Are dating sites truly safe?
I’m thinkin about putting my picture on one of those dating sites the thing is im kinda leary, are they safe?
There’s always going to be exceptions where bad things happen, but if you use them safely they’re pretty safe.
Don’t put any really personal information (surname, address, mobile phone number, etc) on your main profile page, and insist on seeing someone on webcam before you meet them in real life. Put website address somewhere on the display photo where it can’t be cut off without ruining the picture so no-one can steal your pictures and pretend they’re you.
Talk to someone for a good few months before meeting with them. When you do meet with them, bring a friend if possible and meet on neutral ground in a public place, and NEVER invite them to your house and don’t go back to theirs the first couple of times you meet them in case they turn out to be completely psycho.

Australian Internet dating sites & Nigerian email scams for flights home?
I have come across two very attractive profiles of ladies apparently from Australia wanting assistance to arrive home from Nigeria. Are they all scams & how can you tell ? Ever heard of Linda Lopez or Vanessa Johnson ?
I would say so, if you want to make sure, there is a comprehensive database that will let you know for sure.

Also, the minute any person asks you for money (which they “need” in order to travel to visit you, its a dead give away. These punks have claimed to have illnesses, needed surgery, or been trying to escape from an abusive employer or ex-lover. By the way, chances are that you are talking to a 400 lb. black man in your chat-room or dating discussion board. But check out that site anyway. Unfortunately, I have had friends and co-workers who have been fleeced by these sorts of internet scams and have chosen to help others avoid such trouble.
The people responsible for the crap will bleed people of their money and if they travel to meet them, they will kidnap them (or attempt to) and if successful, hold you for ransom until your family runs out of money. In some extreme cases, people have been murdered after their family’s funds are exhausted.
Avoid at all costs buddy.
