I myself am now just getting my divorce finalized at the end of the month. The amount of time varies with how comfortable you feel about seeing another person. It takes some time to get adjusted to the “single life”. I have to agree that you don’t want to introduce your children to someone that isn’t serious. It’s bad enough you had your heart broken by someone but you don’t want your kids to go thru that over and over. It doesn’t make you look good as a parent and your kids will grow up seeing you differently. Bottom line is there is no set time limit. It’s all on how and when you feel yourself when you are ready.

I have a demanding career and can’t converse as I would like… I have my hobbies after work so it makes it difficult as well.
I don’t allow over nights because I am raising a daughter. He was ok with that in the beginning but stated later on that he feels used. He feels that he takes me out …goes to bed with me, then I show him the door.
He is also insecure about my ex. My ex isn’t around much and my daughter doesn’t visit her dad much but when she does see him he comes over to the house to see her. This upsets my boyfriend because he feels that I need to set boundaries with him. I told him to mind his own business

My husband and I had too much alone time. That time should have been spent him and his son, and if I had to do it over again, I would have waited two more years until his son was 18. His son should have been his number one focus in life. Not me.

Dating after Divorce and Children?

I have been separated and divorced for 5 years and I have three children (two girls, 13 and 11; 1 boy, 9). I have been dating a guy for some time now and I am ready to introduce my children to him. I was in a terrible 14 year marriage that ended because of domestic violence and infidelity. My children witnessed a lot of bad things and went through two years of counseling. I have talked with my children about me possibly dating and the girls seems to be open to it. My son told me that he is holding out for a reconciliation between me and his father. How do I handle this? Keep in mind that I have never made them aware of anyone I was seeing because I didn’t want to expose them to someone without knowing it would lead to marriage.

I mean like has anyone actually found that someone special and if so, how does it work.
I’m not really into the dating sites.

Heh, I found my girlfriend on myspace actually. For a couple of days I messaged a couple of girls to see what was potentially out there and met my current gf. We have been going out for almost a year now and going strong.

I know it can work. It all just depends on the people in the relationship or on the site. Just like your probably not going to get the hottest girl (if your a guy) on the dating site that loves to pillow fight with other naked girls because 1)she just wants attention or 2)she’s fake.

If your looking at dating on sites, just be open minded and patient. I haven’t done an actual dating site myself, but I have looked just to see and notice that a lot of girls are too busy, intimidated, or go to the wrong places to go out to meet guys and vise versa. Or they are new to the area.

Send a few emails before you actually meet the person just to make sure he/she is in the ballpark of what your looking for then go from there.

Bottom line. If your asking if you should try it or not, I would say do it. I just checked eharmony and that’s like $50 or $60 a month. Wow. I might try other alternatives first, but it did seem like they asked a lot of questions to get a good match. It may be a little expensive but may be worth it. Or match.com or whatever site you choose to possibly use. Just keep in mind you may OR may not find what you are looking for.
