I don’t think it’s all that bad, but you should not have sex with her, because it is illegal and is called statutory rape. It doesn’t matter if the minor is willing, it is technically a form of rape. But you should consider to go out with this girl as long as you enjoy each others company. Age is just a number =]

What’s the deal with MySQL/PHP for Dummies being crap?

I’m trying to learn PHP and MySQL and I was going to use the book MySQL and PHP for dummies. How frustrating. It seems like it’s completely wrong or out of date. I didn’t think so much would change in a few years. I was starting right out at the basic “Test to see if PHP and MySQL is working” code like:
echo "php is working!";
?>

and it wouldn’t work. The page wouldn’t even load. I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong. I went on a few free php websites which said to use code something like:
echo 'This is a PHP line';
?>

And that WORKED. It was the ” and ‘ difference. What’s the DEAL with that?

PS: Can somebody, please, tell me how to get MySQL working with apache/php on XP? That book has been sending me in the wrong direction. I have Apache running. I have PHP working. I have a MySQL service running that I have root access to. How do I get it to “connect” with PHP/Apache and test that it’s working?

Go download WAMP. It’s the best way to get everything running today at once. If your looking to do some Perl work down the road then XAMPP would be best, but for just PHP/MySQL/Apache I’d suggest WAMP I use it and it’s great. Everything works just as it should.

Just wondering how many dates, how long do you date someone before you start being intimate and that? I mean what is the average timeline?

it depends on each relationship and what your both looking for. if its longer term a several dates / couple weeks. if its more a physical relationship. shorted term, 1-2. it also depends on how you both click and your view on it. some don’t ever do it out side, some play games, so there is no magic number. good luck.

dont know how to tell my parents. He is not like every other 21 year old guy he doesn’t drink and he is not like the clubber type. I feel as though all they are going to see is the fact that he is 21 and not get past that. How do I tell them?

My boyfriend is the same way, and was 21 when we started dating.
I was just upfront with my parents and told them I met a really nice guy, told them about him and his personality / lack of bad habits, THEN broke out the news that he’s older than me.
Heck, a year older can be torture to parents, or at least can be to mine.
They dwelled on the negative impact they thought he’d have on me, but after he spent time around here and we had discussions about him more, they moved on and have accepted him more and more.
I cannot give you a surefire way to make your parents like the idea, but this will hopefully give you a little insight on what to expect.

I didn’t rag on you for dating 3 different girls. Your earlier question was about how to rotate among them, giving the impression that it was more than simple dating.

Unless mutually agreed upon, most people establish a sense of monogamy in their “boyfriend/girlfriend” relationship. My concern isn’t that you’re dating multiple ladies, but whether you are being open and honest with them about it.

Although it may seem to be forgotten today, honesty is a significant part of successful relationships.

That said, I am blessed with the most beautiful, wonderful wife any man could hope for. I have no jealousy over you having 3 girlfriends. Could it be you that is the jealous one in that you can’t find one person in your life to fulfill all your needs?

Dating too long for a real future?

Is there a timeline involved with dating someone prior to marriage - for example, if you’ve been dating someone for five years (and you are out of high school/college) and you haven’t gotten engaged yet… what does it mean? How would you regard such a situation?

It depends on the relationship. You can tell where a relationship is headed usually and if you feel like a relationship is headed towards marriage, that’s generally a sign that one partner or the other needs to ask unless you’ve decided you don’t want to get married.

It’s different for everyone, but if my current boyfriend (we are both in our twenties post drinking age) didn’t propose in the next couple of years I’d be a little shocked honestly. Would I leave him? No. But I’d probably talk to him about it and us moreso than we do now =)

Women who want to have children face a challenge because their bodies ability to give birth tends to shut off in their mid forties (of course there are exceptions and instances otherwise) whereas most men can father a child well into their senior years. I went on Match.com for find a date for the first time an noticed that 98% of women out of 100 sample profiles I read wanted a White Caucasian man. It seems like ideally most women want a white man or someone of there same ethinc backround. Asian women actually prefered white men more than asian men! and black man were the most ignored. Black women seemed to be the only women that mostly Chose ANY race is fine. White women mostly wanted white men and nothing else.

Dude, that’s a generalization. I personally don’t like Match.com because it is too broad-based. Instead, you should focus on dating websites that cater to different nationalities. There are plenty of them.
