How long should a couple over 60 yrs old date before getting engaged or marrying?

We are both over 60, been dating for 3 1/2 years yet he does not seem interested in tying the knot. I don’t feel we have that much time left in our lives when we will be able to enjoy doing things and being active. I actually think it mostly has to do with his love of his money. His second wife took half of his “net worth”. Should I move on and try to find someone else?

There is no waiting period at that age. You’ve seen it all, done it all, know it all. No kids to worry about and I’m sure your both fianancally and mentally stable and secure. So, inquiring minds want to know why you waited 3.5 years to even discuss it when it should have already been done. Your don’t need young peoples opinions, you’ve got our blessings.

I’m sorry you’re not having any luck. I don’t know which sites you have tried, and I’m younger than you (early fifties), but I would recommend plentyoffish.com if you haven’t already tried it. On this site you can specify on your profile exactly what kind of relationship you are looking for (e.g. long term), so you can avoid wasting time with people who have specified that they are only looking for chat or friendship. Also you could write prominently on your profile something like “If you only want to chat please don’t waste my time”. I have had men in their sixties write to me on this site but of course I can’t be sure they were looking for a serious relationship. Plentyoffish is a completely free site (unlike some others that say you can sign up for free but won’t let you contact anyone until you send money) so at least it won’t cost you anything.
