Would you be mad at your mate for signing up to an online dating service?

I recently , by accident , discovered my mate signed up and made a generic profile on MAte 1. I am upset about this and he thinks I am over-reacting… Is it ok for your mate to browse online date?? or ( as I see it) … Dating is Dating… if your chasing then your not taken…. ???
Well we have been dating for a year. IT is serious. I found a message notice in his inbox while I was submitting his resume for him online… since he says hes not computer literate. HE maintains it was just a pop up and he didnt know it was that serious. But it does make me wonder what else he may be doing online when I am at work!! Thanks for all your feedback!!

He (or she) is either with you or not. If they are, they should have no need to look elsewhere. If they are looking somewhere else, sounds like there’s a problem, and, yes, it’s definitely an issue.

What is the proper protocol for people in a serious relationship searching online dating sites?

I met the love of my life 1 1/2 years ago on an online dating service. We fell in love and get along very well. I consider us as man and wife. I cannot understand though why he still has profiles on at least 4 dating sites that I know of and always looks at the womens profiles on them. He also looks at myspace.com which is pretty much like the dating sites and carigslist personals,(causal encounters, women seeking men, misc romance, women seeking women,) for several different cities. He does not email or talk to them, he just looks. It makes me feel that I am inadequate. We live together and are not married which is very hard for me to handle since I was not raised to believe in that. I feel that is is disrespectful to be searching personal ads while being involved in a relationship. Is this just my insecurity or is there more to this? I would appreciate prompt responses from both ladies and gentlemen on this issue.

That’s just wrong, and like the other answerer said, if he tries to make you feel like you’re being silly for worrying about it then you need to take that as a serious warning sign. I’m surprised he actually peruses these websites in front of you. You don’t think he’s trying to scare you off, do you? If not, either he just completely disregards your feelings, or I suppose it’s possible he really is just looking at these out of habit and has no intention of acting on any of them. But that’s a strange hobby, if he wants to be with you then he needs to get over it. Explain to him that it makes you feel bad when he continues to look at these websites when he has taken serious steps toward making a life with you at the same time. If he disregards your feelings, I would give that some very serious thought (and probably run), because I think that would be indicative of future problems with him. But find things you two can do together, like dance lessons, weekend trips, whatever — maybe he’s just bored. Best wishes!

Set your browser block pop-up ads. These settings do a pretty decent job of blocking the unwanted clutter / annoyance of pop-up ads. This is not a substitute for having a good anti-spyware program(s), but it can sure reduce the amount of pop-ups you have to endure.

Internet Explorer:
Go to Tools –> Internet Options
Click on the privacy tab and make sure the “Block pop-ups” option is checked.

Go to Tools –> Options…

My bf and I have been dating for just under a month and I want to get him something for our one month anniversary. We’re both 19 years old and he’s into music and playing the guitar. Anyone know any good gift ideas?

Here’s something creative that will be appreciated and you will have fun doing:

Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two would know about. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures to it!

The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating … you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle.

Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard.

Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it a homemade feeling.
