I live in Chiago, where there is so much happening in the summer with the free public venues going on. But, how do you meet new people in such a big city? When I moved to LA I found that you spend most of your time with the people you work with. Now this may or not be your kind of people, but if you find one or two people that you click with, they may invite you out sometime to meet other friends. Also, find what you like to do and see if there is a local chapter for it. Sports teams from home sometimes have a bar to watch the game, you can go to ethnic festivals, stuff like that. And if a club/chapter or whatever had a website, it will tell you when locals are getting together and where. Unless you want to be “that guy” at the club or bar, I think you need to figure what you like to do (or try something new) and find where those people are and what they’re doing.
