When it comes to dating are you picky or are you just happy to get some?

I am very very picky. Sometimes I end up looking for reasons not to date someone LoL… Bad habit!

So how are you when it comes to dating?

Very very picky.

Personality, appearance, education and profession have to meet my critera. That is why my previous boyfriends were harvard PhDs and the current one is a doctor. They are all veryy nice looking, never smoke, drink or like partying and they all like sports, like me.

The reason I am able to pick the one I like, all because I am not desperate at all.

Why is women’s violence so Overlooked in our society?

But in the West women’s violence is rising DV and girl on girl are rising and dating violence is 50/50.

But why are men always called the “violent ones” by alot of feminists, like violence against women is bad (which it is) but when women are violent to cghildren or men the same female activist who are trying to condemn VAW make excuses for women being like, he must have provoked her etc…

Doube standard?

The bottom line is that there are more violent deaths in women by the hands of their boyfriend/husband, than there are violent deaths against women by another woman, or men by women.

A PBS special I was watching a couple of weeks ago did have a man that had been in an abusive relationship call in. A lot of organizations are recognizing the need for an Act Against Violence [in general]…not based on gender.

From a biblical point of view, Should a person that is not ready for marriage be dating?

The bible does not speak of dating only courtship in the context of preparing for marriage. How then would someone distinguish courtship from dating? What is the difference? And if in fact, courtship or dating (pending on how you define each) is reserved for the preparation of marriage, then should some not ready for marriage be dating? This is just a converstion I was having with my brother and decided to get others input. Thanks in advance for your answers. God Bless!

If you look at the purpose behind each act, you can make a distinction between dating and courtship. Dating would be where an individual goes out and gets to know people better by spending dedicated time with that individual. Courtship, on the other hand, would be where someone pursues a person with the specific intent of either marriage or just consummation of the relationship. Courtship is not predicated upon spending time with the object of affection only with securing your end goal. That could be done a host of different ways - getting in good with the family, sending gifts, etc. And definitely does not require any kind of intimate knowledge of the individual. Dating on the other hand does, which is why some feel that it is a violation of the sanctity of marriage because it allows someone other than your spouse to have intimate knowledge of you (be that physical or mental).

I would imagine the bible doesn’t talk about dating because during that time the Hebrews didn’t believe in male/female interaction in public beyond the confines of marriage. So there really wasn’t the opportunity for people to date before courting for marriage. Not to mention, marriage was often the result of business agreements in those days. Daughters were property to be traded for doweries that could increase the wealth of the father. So courtship often involved convincing the male head of the maternal household that it was in his best interest to give his daughter to you. Going near the daughter before that could have been essentially considered attempted theft.
