It’s not ‘dating’ that’s illegal. It’s sexual congress. Here’s why people care and please don’t be offended by what I’m about to say. Older people who see other older people trying to date young girls/boys don’t care because they’re jealous. They care because they know young people (both females and males) are more easily susceptible to the compliments and sheer confidence (which is very attractive) that an older person exudes. We also know they are usually just after one thing. We feel the reason they’re doing this is twofold, for one, a young person in the first blush of their life, is a very beautiful thing (but we also know you’re very fragile during this time). The law protects you from that. If you’re a little more wiser towards this kind of situation, then it’s okay. This kind of wisdom almost never comes before you’re 18. So if you’re 18 or older and this is what you want, then it’s your choice and who cares what someone else thinks. But… if you’re under 18, we really are concerned that you aren’t being taken advantage of. A lot of young people date older men/women and get away with it because they really aren’t observed by other mature adults who would be inclined to say or do something about it. How long should one wait before dating again after a divorce?

I recently divorced and am not sure when it is emontionally healthy to being dating again? When will I know I have dealt with the greiving process properly? Why should I not rush into dating again? I have a two year old daughter and I am not sure how to handle introducing new woman (girlfriends) into her life?

A two year old is not going to be able to grasp the fact that you are dating someone else. I wouldn’t suggest introducing the kids to any dates unless you have gone out with the person a few times and are serious about starting a relationship with them. Give yourself time. You will know when it is right for you. You can start anytime really, at least the divorce is behind you. So many people jump right in before that point. Good luck to you.

I have a question (this is not my personal situation) but I would like to know about parents who are dating after divorce.

Have you experienced break ups with people you dated that your children met (and maybe bonded with or liked?) and then continued dating other people?

How has it affected your kids? Or if you know someone in this situation, what is your observation of the affect on the children?

Uh yea….My ex broke up with me, and I had a great bond with her son, and a good relationship with her as well. She is going through some stuff right now and litterally pushed me away. It sucks, and I still think about them often, but it has been a few months.

I am sure her son asked for me a lot, and maybe still does, but that is her choice
