Are their rules against dating a best friends ex girlfriend?

They went out for 2 years on-off. They had a very intimate relationship. They would always get back together but eventually she broke up with him and just started giving him the silent treatment because he did something that really upset her. He tried to get back with her but that didn’t work out. He got a new girlfriend but it only lasted a couple of weeks. So would if be awkward if I went out with just me and his first ex girlfriend for a movie and ice cream if I’m friends with the guy?

Remember, true friends don’t date a buddies ex. But, if he is cool with it, then that is a different story. If he isn’t, you need to consider if you go out with her, you may seriously lose a friend.
