1 year dating anniversary gift ideas for my bf, birthday and xmas?

Late Dec. is our 1 year annniversary(Me 22 him soon to be 21).Originally i was planning to take us to a bb hotel for 2 days,have a room with a fireplace, drink champaign and enjoy the snow together but reciently he told me that people make too much a big deal out of a 1 year anniversary making it ‘too romantic’ although it’s a special day.After hearing this, it really hurt my feelings so then i was thinking of putting together a scrap book but i don’t have alot of pictures of us to really put together a scrap book.Not to mention that his birthday is on the 18th and i’m never invited to any of his family gatherings due to their rules of being ‘just family only’ although his older brother’s gf is invited to these gatherings since they’ve been together for about 7 years.I just feel left out around the holidays since my last bf, i could spend any holiday with him.I dunno what to do about the holidays with my current bf who i love dearly.Any ideas about this busy week?

He doesn’t want to make a big deal. So don’t. Don’t even give him anything for the anniversary. Give him something VERY small for his bday and Christmas. He hasn’t fought to have you at the family gatherings, so if he has a problem tell him “he said it all wasn’t a big deal, and since you can’t even go to his family gatherings you thought it wasn’t a big deal. If he’s got a problem with that, then he should start making it a big deal.”
