Why does MTV have stupid reality TV shows?

Ever since the making of the Real World on MTV in 1991, there has been a list of reality TV shows, reality game shows, reality dating shows, etc. All of these shows are pointless and have no worth or value to even watch. Why does MTV air these non-educational shows that seem to make our generation stupid?

They cost less to produce, they don’t have to pay the participants as much as a musician or real actor, and they bring in bigger ratings then music video shows. Companies don’t make TV shows for the people to enjoy, they make them for the $$$ money. Don’t look to MTV for education though, ever. Even before they had so many reality TV shows they had on popular music videos. And I seriously doubt that lines like “I don’t ready you’re ready for this jelly” or “I’m a firecracker, I make it hot” were going to expand your mental horizons anyway. MTV has never had educational programming.
