why can i not pick up broadband off my phone line?

ive tried to go on broadband with talk talk but coul not pick it up with thier routers after weeks of trying ive changed back to bt ,ive sighned up for thier broadband and have thier modem connected now my activation date has passed but i still cant pick up broadbandn, The way im accesing the internet now is with tesco dial up can anyone tell me its not broadband ,can anyone tell me if by having this dial up could it be stopping my broadband coming down the line,has i find it strange that i cant pick broadband up with either talk talk or bt .There doesnt seem to be a problem with my line

Do make sure all phone sockets INCLUDING the one with the modem have ADSL line filters installed - you have to separate the ADSL signal from the voice one.

Then check the modem instructions - the indicator lights or a status program on your PC will be able to tell you if an ADSL signal is being detected on the line.

If it is, the the final step is to make sure that you have given the right login credentials to the ADSL service - if you have not your connection will not go beyond the first server.

It is unlikely you have an IP clash unless you have configured your network to use static IP addresses (which does not sound likely).
