How do you transition from dating to boyfriend and girlfriend?

I have been seeing someone for 8 weeks. We have never discussed whether or not we are “exclusively” dating but I’m pretty sure that he isn’t seeing anyone else and neither am I. I’m fine with the situation but I am just wondering how other people have transitioned from dating to boyfriend/girlfriend. Is there a certain about of time that signifies a change in relationship status? Does anyone have any stories or advice to share? I don’t want to scare him off. Thanks

I don’t think anything “official” needs to take place. When I first started dating my now fiancee, I was also dating other women through a matchmaker service. Eventually, however, I just stopped seeing the other women, and spent all my time with my fiancee. Eventually, we just expected to be together on weekends, and consult each other about when we would be late to be home, or other such matters. It just kind of happened.
